FiveStripe is a catalogue, not a school and not a streaming site. It organises instructional content that other people published on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and the open web, and files it under the position you are actually in: side control bottom, closed guard submissions, saddle entries, and so on.

We do not host videos, clip them, or reproduce paywalled instructionals. YouTube plays in YouTube’s own player. Articles are links, with a sentence of our own about why the page is useful. The name is a nod to a black belt’s five stripes — a reminder that this is a long project, not a shortcut.

Right now the catalogue has 906 resources (871 YouTube videos) across 26 positions, 206 topics, 225 named techniques and 229 instructors.

What we are not

We are not a replacement for a coach or an academy, and we do not publish original instructionals. The catalogue points at public lessons other people already made.

Votes and privacy

There are no accounts. A thumbs-up or thumbs-down is stored against a random id in your browser and aggregated anonymously. Until a video has five votes, lists are ordered by how popular the creator is (YouTube subscribers when we know them, otherwise our curated ranking of that instructor). After five votes, the community score takes over so the explanations that actually helped people float up. You can retract a vote by pressing the same button again. A study list lives only on this device.

Gi and no-gi

The tree covers both. Use the filter on any resource list to show gi, no-gi, or everything. Resources tagged “both” stay visible either way.
